Miguel Gomes’ multi-award-winning film Our Beloved Month of August (Aquele Querido Mes de Agosto), Portugal’s official selection for the 2008 Academy Awards, makes its New York theatrical premiere with a one-week engagement, starting Friday, September 3, at the Anthology Film Archives.

New York audiences will have the rare opportunity to catch Mr. Gomes’ earlier work never before shown in the U.S. the weekend of Sept. 10, starting with his first feature, The Face You Deserve (A Cara Que Mereces), screening on Friday and Saturday only, and a five-short films program, screening Saturday and Sunday only.
